Frankie Manning was one of my early partners in the 1980s- He toured the world and became the King of Swing but always can back home to NY. He wrote in 2006 on one of his trips home that I was his favorite dance partner. He was truly amazing. Over 3000 people were in NY to celebrate his life.
In honor of his world wide celebration last May when he would have been 100, I taught and could teach again Frankie's Big Apple, circle swing dance. I could also teach the shim sham if there was interest.
Please come join in! -let me know what nights you could- even weekends- I want everyone to be able to participate! I break things down and do it slowly so you can all learn it!
Since the classes are small I need everyone to rsvp in advance with your interest so we can know which dance we are going to to do!

Special Swing Jazz Dance Workshop Classes in
Shim Sham Class & Jitterbug Stroll and
Freestyle dance classes available upon request
Ballroom and Latin Dances Course *–Basic positions of body and partnering, Footwork, Steps, Musicality, Body carriage, Body movements and Rhythms – Floor Patterns, Rhythm Patterns and Spatial patterns of the different dances.
Dances taught may include 2 or 3 of the following dances and touch on others: Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, Salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba, Nightclub Two-step, Swing, Lindy-hop, West Coast Swing, Peabody, Charleston, Country Two-step, Meringue.
Swing Course *–
Basic and intermediate moves in 6 and 8 count patterns. Basic styling that can be transferred to any style of Swing. May include some Charleston and Swing Jazz steps and body movements.
Rhythm, ease of movement and musicality are stressed.
Freestyle Dance*
Freestyle dancing for parties- Self conscious? Don’t get up at parties and have fun dancing? Learn some moves, get ideas, & confidence & have fun! Various improvisations, dance exercises for body movements and posture and style & popular jazz moves taught which can be used in both freestyle and social dances such as swing, waltz, and salsa.
Swing & Ballroom*
Basics of dance that relate to all social dances- exploring steps, rhythms, and partnering of social dances that are related to swing.
Jitterbug Stroll & Shim Sham are Popular Swing Line Dances*

Policies for Classes
Payment is due is full before the first class.
There are no refunds.No exceptions.
Make up class may be permitted by instructor in the same series only if a suitable substitute class of the same level that the student can handle is available within that same term.
There are no make-ups or extensions into other terms or series.
There are no substitutions of people, taking the class for another student.
There are no extensions of due to missed or make up classes into subsequent series.
